The FOCUS Group has a strong regional sales , merchandising and distribution influence and co-ordinates over 500 Marketing, Sales, Merchandising and Distribution Agents throughout South Africa and abroad. It effectively reaches every small town, city and metropolitan area in South Africa.

In addition, the company has access to highly experienced Consultants internationally, and is able to expand clients business through effective export promotion, product awareness, and "brand" building recommendations. These marketing professionals are coordinated and directed by the founder of the company, Darryl Moodie, who has over 20 years experience in corporate, product marketing and distribution management. His experience includes:

- Lecturing at the University of Natal, Durban, in economics and business marketing in 1979/80.
- Appointed as the Senior Economist and Head of the Marketing Advisory Services for Unilever South Africa from 1979 to 1985, during which time he analysed marketing trends & opportunities for the Unilever Group of Companies in South Africa, the UK, Netherlands & Australia. He was also responsible for launching a number of well-known household products into the FMCG retail sector during this period;
- Serving as an advisor to the Prime Minister's Economic/Market Advisory Commission from 1982-5.
- Founding and developing the Focus Marketing Group from 1985 to date;
- Lecturing on the MDD and MBA programs of the Graduate School of Business, University of Kwazulu-Natal, from 1990 to date.

FOCUS Marketing was originally established in 1985 as a specialist retail marketing consulting company. Initially focusing on clients in the FMCG food and personal products sector, the company has since expanded both its field of operation and client base to include the inter-related divisions outlined in the opening section. A brief history follows: |
- 1985: Creation of the original FOCUS Strategic Planning division.
- 1990 - 1996: Creation of additional Planning Divisions & related Service divisions.
- 1996 to date:Creation of various Trading Divisions specifically to carry accounts with retail chain stores for some of its clients, as well as to co-ordinate the effective logistics and distribution of client’s products to new makets.
